100 soldiers in Iraq fighting for my freedom and yours.
100 soldiers over there, not here... during this time of year.
100 soldiers without any family anywhere.
My friend, Veronica, found out about a group of 100 soldiers, currently in Iraq that don't have any family. She found out about them on Friday. And then she thought it sure would be nice if we sent them a card. She called her stamping friends (mind you, I wasn't at the TOP of her list - pfffttt! - She knows better now!) asking us if we'd like to donate 10 holiday cards each. Again, this was Friday (4 days ago!). Being the nosy person I am (it's really more the engineer wanting to solve problems, you know?), I asked her what she was up to. She told me about these 100 soldiers she had heard of. Then I kicked it into gear (after I chastised her for not coming to me first, of course!) and rallied the "troops" (Get it? :)). My dear, dear friends Michelle, Teri, Lori, Evalyn, and Veronica came over tonight and made cards. First, Veronica and I got the packs of 25 white cards and envelopes that Michael's sells (and they were on sale last week for $2.49 each)! Then last night I designed 5 VERY simple designs so that we could recreate them quickly and inexpensively and "flatly" (can't be too bulky for the military!). So, one layer cards... minimal embellishments .... I KNOW GLITTER :).
I'm so proud of these women... 100 cards... 1 hour 40 minutes. Can you believe that?
All of the cards were stamped on the outside, inside, and the envelopes were stamped as well! Evalyn even wrote inside some of them!
Here are some pics of our frenzy:

My friends are so awesome. I mean we just organized this yesterday morning. Yes, Monday morning. It's December - everyone is busy this time of year yet my friends took time out of their busy schedules to come take part in this. This is why I love them. At a drop of a hat... thank you ladies. It was truly my honor to spend this evening with you!
100 soldiers.
We can not begin to thank you for all that you do for our country, our families, and the world. May this small gesture find you in good health and good spirits. There are many more than 100 of us thinking about you today. Peace.
