Wondering where I've been? Multi-tasking at it's finest.... you know how that works, LOTS of stuff going on but nothing near completion or completed! I have way too many projects and things going on.

Anyway, I've cleaned OUT (not to be confused with cleaned UP - LOL) my stamp room. I've pulled all the retired Stampin' Up! sets that I want to get rid of.

Tag, I'm it...

After a week of playing Rock, Paper, Scissors with my 5 year-old, I'm happy to change the game to Tag. I've been tagged this week by TWO fellow stampers. I might add that I've never been tagged before so here breaks my silence. :)

Random things about me:
1. When I moved to Texas at age 11, I was fluent in French. I lived in a very small French town in Canada (was bussed to the next English speaking town for school!).

2. I was the representative from my hometown in Hands Across America in 1986 (or was it 1985?).

3. I met Heather Locklear and her then husband, Richie Sambora (who was not so nice that particular day) on my honeymoon.

4. My first car was a maroon (dare I say that?) 1976 Monte Carlo that could fit 11 people in it if they were laying on top of each other in the back seat!

5. I swam with the Stingrays in the Cayman Islands and I'm scared to death of being in the water with fish and sharks and other sea creatures!

6. I was one of the original software engineers/designers on the Mobil (and now Exxon) Speedpass Pay at the Pump systems.

7. I can remember dates really well but not names or anything else really. Like I can remember the birthday of my best friend in the 2nd grade (WHY??? DUNNO!) but I can't remember a phone number someone just gave me or what her name was. Doh. :(

THIRD PLACE!!!!

I won 3rd place in the AMUSEAPALOOZA Ambassador Competition! Can you believe that? I see that some of you already knew that based on your comments (Thank you for that!). I just found out last night! We didn't have any kind of internet to speak of down on the beach! LOL! Anyway, I'm so very excited. 3rd place winnings is a $30 gift certificate to A Muse art stamps! Can you say free rubber?

Did you see you got 1st and 2nd? Amy Rysavy won 1st place. Amy has been a guest designer for A Muse and she has done some tutorials over on Splitcoast. She's on some other design teams also. She is AWESOME.

Taylor VanBruggen won 2nd place. Have you seen her work? Taylor is also an experienced stamper and on several design teams. I'm sure you've seen her work. She does exquisite work.

And then there is me. Little ol' me... I'm just Sally Stamper and not famous like them. I am SO HONORED to have my name in the same sentence as theirs. Congratulations Amy and Taylor.

HOME!!!!!

We are home from the beautiful, sunny Mayan Riviera!!! Can't blog much tonight - I went crazy and unpacked us all and did all the laundry already (well, last load is drying!). We got home around 5pm tonight and now, I'm too tired to move. I just wanted to tell you that I'm home so if you've emailed me, etc. I'll catch up with you tomorrow!

Well, the end of the A Muse Ambassador Contest is here. I wish to thank all of you that supported me a long the way. I know that at times you must have thought that I was crazy and I probably was. It was most definitely a fun ride for me. I have to thank Linda, at A Muse for without her, this wouldn’t have even happened. I also would like to thank Emily, you may know her as scoopy, because she answered endless questions from me and put up with me for 10 whole weeks. I really need to thank my husband and my family just for being there and letting Mommy do weird stamping things on our vacations. :) Most likely, you readers will know who wins this before I do (which that alone makes me crazy!) but that’s okay. Okay, so, I am a French Canadian (raised as a child) Asian American living in Central Texas, where they speak mainly English unless you look like me and some assume that you are Mexican and only speak Spanish to me; (take a breath) vacationing in Mexico, where they mainly speak Spanish and every person I talk to is not Mexican or American and speaks some other language! (yes, very poorly written run-on sentence!) I’m a bit language confused at the moment. I took Latin in High School for pete’s sake! I was fluent in French when I moved to Central Texas but that was many, many years ago. Since then I’ve tried to take some Spanish classes but apparently I revert back to French mid-sentence without knowing it. So, here I am. It is amazing how much Spanish one knows… even my 5 year-old apparently knows some Spanish. WHERE did he learn that? Right, Dora… or Diego… sure that’s it. Hardly.

Okay, well, during some much needed naptime today… I got to stamp a bit more.

Greetings from Mexico. Yes, we are on vacation (again). With 2 kids... uh, 5 and 1. Yes, insane. Anyway, this is our last trip of my husband's sabbatical from work. Boo hoo. But we are at a beautiful resort just south of Cancun, Mexico. And guess what? It's not raining here.

However, the internet availability is next-to-nothing, so you won't here much from me this week.

My nephew's party...

My nephew is turning 3 in a couple of weeks. I told my SIL that I'd make the invitations for her. And then I woke up this morning and realized I hadn't done them yet and she needs them so she can get them out. WHERE IS THE TIME GOING? I swear my brain isn't traveling 1/2 as fast as the rest of me.

My nephew said he wanted a Power Rangers party. Mind you, he's only seen 1 episode and never watches the show. Where do little boys get this stuff from? I think my son had a power ranger party when he turned 3... or maybe 4. I don't remember. And he doesn't watch it either. Strange.

Well, *everyone* knows that the RED power ranger is da BOMB. So, I thought I'd make this card. After all is said and done, I realized that my "red" ranger is really Blue with a red cape. Hmm. Good thing he's turning 3... maybe he won't catch that.

Luggage/Backpack Tag

It's Purple! Go figure. So, I like purple.

This luggage tag is super cool (not my artwork - the tag itself). Again, someone on SCS was getting rid of them for really cheap and a bunch of them so I snagged them up! Uh, and this was my first one... They are by XYRON and they are SUPER easy to do... self laminating.

I put the "Journey" saying on the back so that I can see it when I'm out and about and frenzied to get somewhere or to get something done.

A Muse Challenge 10 - Not a card #6

From the time I met my husband, he has always told me that the Journey is the destination. He occasionally reminds me whenever I say, "I can't wait for ..." (you fill it in .... eg. our son to go to school, etc.). I saw this saying from A Muse and had to get it. It's not exactly the same but close enough...

"The journey is the reward" Chinese proverb.

I decided to make a little frame (came as a set of 3 a while back in the $ spot at Target) for my PURPLE stamp room. My room is 89% purple, with accents of Pink Passion. So, this will fit in there nicely, I think.

To answer your question... yes, I did make all of these today from scratch! That's what I'm saying... who knew? I got inspired! And Jenn, it feels so good to use up some of that stash. ;)

PURPLE... again? Well, yes, of course. Didn't you notice that my blog is this color? And if you saw the posts back in March of my "new" stamp room... it's purple.

I need a new post-it note holder. Why is it that we make such cool things for others and give them away and then I'm writing notes on the backside of a thrown out business envelope? Or those return bill payment envelopes (that you don't use if you do webpay or online bill paying!). WHY? Sheesh...

So, this PURPLE one is for me. Good thing, I'm in a house of boys! No one will take this :) AND it has MY initial on it!

A simple bookmark.

Here's the story about this. First, I like simple bookmarks in my books. You know the kind I'm talking about ... flat and lays nicely inside your books.

Reading? What's that? I know you are asking when do I do that? Never. Well, that's not true. On vacation. So, not very often. Kids and pleasure reading don't seem to go that well together. Ironic, eh? Since, as parents, you try to encourage reading ALL the time and are reading all the time. But Goodnight Moon or The Lorax don't really count, I think.

Oh yeah, back to this bookmark. I wanted a flat, simple one that wouldn't have anything on it that falls off when you're at the dr.'s office and shoving the bookmark into your book (or SU catalog as the case may be). :) I decided to spell out A Muse since this is the last week of this 10 week contest. I thought it would be a good reminder of all the fun and craziness that I've experienced.

Come on, remember the "dry embossing/McGyver" entry? That was funny... And who else do you know that takes their A Muse stamps on their anniversary trip to the Carri bean only to get lost in Miami at customs? And then there were all the LATE nights...

A Muse Challenge 10 - Not a card #2

A while back, someone on SCS was getting rid of a ton of Jumbo Paper clips (you can get them at Wal-mart in the office section) and so I got them from her. And then there they sat. They even joined my family PRE-stamp room cleanup and they made it through and found themselves in a drawer called "Alterables". Uh, that drawer is a bit full. Ahem. How did that happen? Okay, I know how that happened.

Anyway, I've wanted to make one of these and I had all of the stuff... cuttlebug dies, chipboard, E6000 glue, everything. There is a great tutorial on SCS about these. Well, my friend Beverly Gerard (aka TexasGrammy) just made some BEAUTIFUL ones (PLEASE go to her blog and leave her a comment... they are gorgeous!). Then along comes this challenge and here I am. I say to myself... (you have this voice in you, don't you??), I CAN do one!

Well, it's not PURPLE but it is just for me. This is one of the few nights I've made some stuff for me. Usually, I make stuff for gifts for others (because I LOVE doing that). But tonight I made both - for others AND for me. This bookmark clip is for ME :).

So, apparently I LOVE this challenge. Who knew? I thought I'd make one thing just to enter the challenge and call it quits. Because in my book, anything but a card takes a lot longer than a card. But being the valedictorian of the Jenn Balcer School of Hoarders, I found ALL kinds of fun stuff that I've been wanting to make. Huh. Who knew.

First up: Embossed napkins. A couple of years ago for my birthday, my friend Amy made me some cocktail napkins for all occasions to use at my Stampin' Up! classes. They were so cute AND way to nice to use at a workshop! HOARD. She told me they were super easy to make. I never did try it until tonight. And guess what color napkins I happened to have? PURPLE ... yeah you guessed it. Oh, and you'll see a theme with that tonight.

SAHM's - know what I mean?

All of you stay-at-home-moms out there, riddle me this.... When your baby gets up during the night (several nights in a row), why do people ask you "what's wrong with him?" I mean if I knew the *#$(&*#$& answer to that, I would fix it!!! No, not bitter...

So, we're into day 6 of getting up at 4:30... why 4:30, I don't know (don't you dare ask me!). He's a happy kid though... some of those days, he actually wanted to be up for the day. Uh, no.

Anyway, my DH (dear husband) was SO VERY COOL today. He took the boys to his parents house at the lake for the day. This is the FIRST time ever that I got to stay home by myself most of the day. Of course, I had to do errands most of the day, like run to Costco and the grocery store and Michael's (I didn't even buy anything!) and oh, of course, get my SU! catalogs spiral bound :). So, I didn't even get to stamp AT ALL in my empty house. That's crazy.

So, I'm exhausted... and I made this card last night and it seems so appropriate to my feelings right now...

ah, soft, comfy pjs. Mmmm.... bed. Do you hear it calling?

In the two years I've been Jenn Balcer's downline, we have never been in a swap together. Can you believe that? Maybe that's not that uncommon. Hmm. I feel as if I talk to her daily but never have we stamped together or traded stuff, etc. You know how it is... kids, work, life... Anyway, she signed up for my A Muse ATC swap over on Splitcoast. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT? Wanna join us... some slots left. You, too, can own a "Balcer" original! And believe me, they are SO worth it.

Sewing 101

Ah, remember my post last week about sewing and my new little sewing machine (thanks to Cambria!)? Well, I finally tried it on something more than a scrap piece of cardstock. I tried it on two of my OSW Roses in Winter cards. Here they are:

So, it's nothing fancy but how did I do for my first paper sewing attempts?

Now that I have your attention... :) It's time to say goodbye to some of my favorites...

I need to pay my respect to the now gone SU! Roses In Winter. I'm so sad to see that this set is gone. I think it will continue to live at my house rent free for a while longer. But I pulled it out and played with it one last time yesterday. I also used the gone forever Cool Caribbean cardstock. That was SUCH a fun color. I decided to do a One Sheet Wonder for these cards because I just love the look of RIW all over the paper. And I haven't done a OSW in a while (almost a year... gasp!). I made 11 cards out of that OSW and I stuck with birthdays, thank yous and a couple of thinking of you type cards. Now, you all are probably sick of me saying this but I love the font choices from A Muse. This is how I got hooked on them. I was pretty sick of the ones in the SU! catalog, although I really like the new ones (of course, I don't have those yet!). So, I used my favorite fonts from A Muse on these cards.

It's funny that I've owned RIW 3 times. Yes, 3 times. I kept getting rid of it thinking I was done with it. HA! So, what do you think?

One little, two little, three little Indians...

Okay, it's time for a story...

As you know, I'm Indian. And I mean the original kind of Indian. Well, my parents were born there. I was not. A few years ago, when my eldest son was 2, I was surfing the net and found this costume for Halloween for him. Yep, you guessed it. It was a little Indian... the Native American kind. I showed my husband. (Oh, he's NOT Indian) We both laughed and then he said, get it... it'll be funny. This, my friends, is the kind of humor we have at my house. So, ordered it I did. And that year, my little Indian dressed up like an Indian. BAHHAHHAHAHAHA... and you know what... some people actually got it. To me, this is the kind of humor I see in A Muse stamps... I mean seriously... the mad scientist is named Boris, the nurse is named Florence, the Dr is Marcus (although that might be a generational thing 'cause some young'ins I know have no idea what that means!). Anyway, I just think these stamps are actually AMUSING. I do.

So, a while back I ordered the little Indian stamp from A Muse because it so reminded me of when my son was 2 that Halloween. Last night, I finally got it inky and here's the little card I made for a boy's birthday.....
